Instrument Rating
Course (7-10 Days)
Our Complete Instrument Rating Course will
thoroughly prepare a private pilot for the demands of Instrument Flying in the
real world. Our training
focuses on
Single Pilot IFR operations to prepare you to actually use your
instrument rating once you complete training. The last day of the course includes
the instrument checkride with an FAA designated Examiner who will sign your new
certificate upon successful completion.
The success
of our instrument rating course is founded on the quality of our flight instruction. You
will spend the entire 7-10 days with the same instructor who is
exclusively assigned to you for your instrument training. Your flight instructor has
only one client at a time and does not have any outside flying commitments.
You will quickly feel at ease with our friendly and professional atmosphere
that allows you to learn at your own pace.
Each day consists of about 8 or 9 hours of moderate level training.
The day is
divided into classroom, simulator and airplane time in an organized fashion.
Every lesson will be thoroughly explained and learned on the simulator before
reinforcing the lesson in the airplane. Instrument flying is our passion and
that passion will help guide and motivate you through an enjoyable and
challenging week of training.

Pilots that are not current or who have not flown in a while
should fly with an instructor prior to training with us. Pilots should be
proficient in normal and crosswind landings, VFR radio operations, VFR steep
turns, stalls and slow-flight. We recommend flying 5-10 hours in
the two months preceding your IFR training. In addition pilots should be
familiar with basic Private Pilot knowledge areas such as airspace, basic
aircraft performance, weight and balance, metars, and TAFs.
Although we can cover remedial training
during the week, it is to your advantage to gain as much IFR knowledge from us
as you can. To maximize the benefit of your investment in training with us,
you should arrive fully prepared to build on your Private Pilot knowledge.
You may bring your own personal airplane with you to
train in or schedule the use of our C172R. Our
C172 is a 2002 model equipped with a KLN 94 Color IFR GPS and a 2-Axis KAP140
autopilot with altitude pre-select.
